Authors Libba Bray and Shannon Hale put on quite a show in the Eckstein Library on
Thursday January 24th, 2008. Their comedic routine was well received by an audience full of girls who welcomed the authors with an Oprah Winfrey style shriek fest.
While each author provided some insight into their writting - both successes and failures (Shannon Hale brought all of her letters of rejection),
it was their sense of humor and approachability that won over the audience. When asked what fish she was most like, Libba Bray compared herself first to a flounder but then settled on a Swedish Fish (yup, the candy) after encouragement from the audience.
The authors led the group in an improv writting/acting exercise that turned “Little Red Riding Hood” into a short High School Musical number with ferocious tigers and tiger repellent dandruff and a date with the Math club.
Before leaving, Libba Bray and Shannon Hale signed books, hands, binders and scraps of paper for adoring fans, taught Eckstein girls how to do the “NeeNer NeeNer Dance,” and perfomed a musical number of their own.
Thank you Shannon Hale, Libba Bray and All For Kids Books for coming to the Eckstein Library!!!
